Resumo

O envelhecimento populacional e a institucionalização de idosos exigem soluções que aumentem a segurança, melhorem o conforto e reduzam a carga operacional nos lares de idosos. Este estudo avaliou o impacto dos lençóis técnicos Shellty® num lar de idosos português com 40 residentes, ao longo de três meses, combinando a validação microbiológica em condições reais de utilização com indicadores operacionais e feedback de profissionais e residentes. Os lençóis foram implementados em todas as camas, com registo digital do tempo de utilização, número de lavagens e intervalos entre as mudas. Paralelamente, foram recolhidas amostras dos lençóis em uso prolongado para quantificar a carga microbiana e detetar Escherichia coli, Enterobacteriaceae, Staphylococcus aureus e Klebsiella pneumoniae. Observou-se um maior intervalo entre as trocas de lençóis, um menor número de ciclos de lavagem e um menor tempo despendido na troca de roupa de cama, juntamente com relatos de maior conforto e sensação de higiene contínua. Em todas as amostras, os microrganismos alvo mantiveram-se abaixo do limite de deteção e a contagem microbiana total manteve-se baixa, sem tendência para aumentar em função da duração da utilização ou do número de lavagens. Estes resultados sugerem que os lençóis técnicos Shellty® combinam a segurança microbiológica com ganhos operacionais relevantes e podem representar uma alternativa têxtil promissora para melhorar a biossegurança, otimizar os recursos e apoiar a qualidade dos cuidados geriátricos.
